Ouzel Falls Hike

We hiked to Ouzel Falls today, the three of us and G & G Vogt.  It was 95+ degrees when we got home at dinner time so it was a good day to be in the mountains.  Here are some pictures from along the 5.4 mile round trip.

We hiked along the south fork of the St Vrain for the bottom portion of the hike.
There were lots of little falls along the way.
And lots of beautiful wild flowers.
Someone didn't want to get their picture taken...
 Calypso Cascade
Playing with the filter on my phone camera.
I guess she decided pictures were OK.
 At the top.
 Ouzel Falls
Super cool lenticular clouds.  I couldn't get out from under the trees to get a clear shot.
Almost back down.  We had a great time.

Hike to Lake Isabelle

Had to tackle a TON of snow, but, regardless, had a great hike today.  We went up to Lake Isabelle and then around Long Lake.  We even saw a momma moose and calf.  It was a fantastic day!

Eye's on the prize at the start of the hike.  This is where we are heading.
 Good company to hike with!
 Hmmm, which way to go?!
Hard to find our way on all that snow!
Not sure if we were exactly on the path the whole time, however, we made it to Lake Isabelle!
While having a snack, we saw these two down the valley from us!

Random happenings this spring

I am very delayed in posting a lot of pictures from this past spring season.  I have decided to make one large posted dedicated to the months of April, and May!  Here you go.

Cory started a new job as a Project Manager in the Research Aviation Facility (RAF) at NCAR.  He now works with the National Science Foundation sponsored planes on field project work.  Here is what he sees at work everyday now - pretty cool!
 C-130
 Gulf Stream 5 (G5)

Kaylynn went to a horse camp over spring break.  She seemed to really enjoy it and was very comfortable around the horses.
Riding bareback:
 Turning all the way around.
 Feeding Jack apples!

We went to the Kite Festival in Arvada with Jenny and her kids and Nathan.  It was a bit cool and windy, but I guess you need the latter for a kite festival, so it was a good thing.

 Face painting.

 This was good exercise!

And the gerbil balls are always a hit!

One random weekend we decided to go to the Discovery Museum in Fort Collins.  What a cool place!  Lots of hands on activities that were entertaining for K and her parents!

There was a tornado chamber that had winds of 80 mph.
 Lots of cool exhibits.
Cool photo shadow wall.  Now you see her...
 and now you still do!
I had to try it, too, before we left!

Here is a guessing game.  Does anyone know what this is?  After thriving for far too long in our basement, they were discovered and tossed out!

Easter Sunday.  K's choir sang, my bell choir played, and Cory's choir sang and he played his trumpet for all four services.  It was a busy morning!

After church Jenny's family came up for dinner and egg dying.

My tulips in full bloom!

The KidZing choir had the opportunity to sing at the annual teachers awards ceremony.  It was a special honor and they all dressed up for the occasion.

The fourth graders had their annual kickball tournament at the end of the school year.  It was fun to watch!
