Happy Valentines Day!

When Kaylynn woke us up this morning she came in and said "You have to wake up - today is a big day - it's VALENTINES DAY!" She has already made a craft with construction paper and hearts and had heart-shaped french toast for breakfast. She slept in her heart pj's. And she wore her new heart dress yesterday to her school party. (I am sure she will wear it again today, too!) We also put her hand print and hearts on her memory table cloth last night. She thinks this is a great holiday! Here are some pictures.

Thanks for the great Valentines gifts, Grandpa and Grandma!

On a different note, here is Kaylynn sporting her first shiner! Makes her look tough, don't you think?!

Catching up

As promised, here is a picture of Cory putting up the new light in our front entry way. He did survive climbing over the railing upstairs to get on the 18' ladder that we could not extend all the way because it was too wide at the base. The most important thing is that I really like the new light. I consider it a bonus that Cory was not hurt in the process.

We went to the Great Western Stock Show here in Denver a few weeks ago.

Kaylynn seemed to enjoy the rodeo - or maybe it was just the lollipop she had.

Here is our Governor holding on for dear life on the Wells Fargo coach.

(Weird!) Uncle Pete came down for a visit last weekend too. Kaylynn gets a big kick out of him (now!). They had fun playing baseball in the back yard, among the other things they did. The girl can really hit - too bad Pete is so tall and was able to snag this one.

Here is a picture with Aunie and James too.

Finally, we held our annual Super Bowl party and here are a few pictures of the kids with their 3-D glasses on.

Sorry for all the random pictures! We have been so busy lately, I have been terrible about taking pics. Kaylynn took 5 weeks of ski lessons, which she seemed to enjoy (as long as she got to ride the chair lift, not the carrot tow!). Cory was always too busy skiing himself to take pictures of that! She is now having a great time with swimming and dance lessons. She keeps us going, but seems to be enjoying all her activities.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

A very Merry Christmas was had around our house! Thanks to all our family and friends for making it a such a special time of year. Here are some pictures of a fun time with family and opening some great presents!

We had to hold our little reindeer still for a picture.
The cats also wanted to bolt, but we got in one quick picture!
They did enjoy sitting under the tree for long periods of time and eating ribbon off the presents though.Kaylynn playing with James and the toy she picked out for him - he was thrilled!
And the toy James got Kaylynn (she was thrilled!), he will enjoy crawling after the remote control scooter in no time!
Grandma and Grandpa, say "Wii"!!Princesses were definitely a theme this year.Daddy's Little Princess.I think Cory liked his gift because since he got it he has spent several hours in the garage organizing his tools in his new tool chest. (or maybe he just needed time out of the house?!)And Santa brought Kaylynn the Little Mermaid Barbie - just what she wanted!
K's new Santa towel - too cute! She now has enough Marble Run pieces to go all the way up the stairs.Making ice cream "ornaments" with Grandma and Grandpa.
A new addition to the princess collection.
On a different note, I am working on a quilt for our bed and I just finished the top today. I still need to add the borders and then have it quilted, but it is coming along!

House Updates

The past couple of months we've been able to work in a few small remodeling projects around the house. In October we tore into our small bathroom and completely renovated it. It took 2 months and about 50 trips to Lowe's, but it's finally (almost) done.

In the midst of that we repainted Kaylynn's room, and she received a whole bunch of accessories (sheets, bedspread, curtains, lamp, pictures, etc.) for Christmas. She is a big fan and very happy to be in a pink room now.

Last week we decided to replace some of the lights in the house, including two chandeliers. One of those has been put up, along with two other lights. The last chandelier is, unfortunately, hanging from a vaulted ceiling that is around 20 ft. high. I'm still trying to figure out how to get up there and install it. If I survive then we'll post a picture of that later. :>

A busy weekend

We had our first of many busy weekends between now and Christmas this past weekend. Here is a brief summary and, of course, lots of pictures!

Last Friday night Kaylynn had her Winter Program at school. The kids sang three really cute songs, one of which was "Twinkle, twinkle":

On Saturday morning was the annual Children's Holiday party at NCAR. They always have a lot of great crafts and fun games. Kaylynn got her face painted and had a unicorn balloon animal made. She also decided to brave Santa's lap again this year too!

Saturday morning Robin HG also arrived!

We watched Otis that afternoon and night so that Mommy and Daddy and Robin could have some bonding time. Kaylynn loves to have her friends sleep over and her and Otis played really great together. They would like to wish you a Mele Kalikimaka!!

Otis is hoping this is what Christmas morning looks like at his house!

On Sunday afternoon was Kaylynn's holiday dance recital. It was much more low-key compared to their spring recital, but still quite cute!

About a month ago we repainted Kaylynn's room, at her request, to PINK!!! When she saw it she said "Mommy, I love it!" She also inherited a canopy from a colleague that I work with and so we hung that up over her bed last weekend. Here she is doing her Sleeping Beauty impression!!

Finally, we squeezed in some time to build our gingerbread house tonight. I think Kaylynn ate more frosting and candies then actually made it on the house (we had to dig some M&M's out of our stash to finish decorating the roof)!!

We are looking forward to much more excitement this coming weekend - stay tuned!!
