Fall happenings

Here are a lot of random pictures from the last few weeks around our house.  Kaylynn started racking leaves several weeks ago and came up with this pile.  The piles she rakes every-other-day now are MUCH larger!  An example of that was one of the things I deleted when I was downloading pictures last time!
K had to make a poster to describe what the Student Council does.  Here is what she came up with.  She did such a nice job!
Cory and I went to Great American Beer Fest in Denver.  It was a blast!  In order to bring in your own food you have to wear it, hence, the food necklaces!  My favorite was a chai milk stout...mmm!
Finally, K had her school fun run to raise money and learn about healthy habits at the same time.  Here is her class getting ready to run.
The three munchkins.
I ran with K.  She was just shy of 2 miles in 20 minutes.
Feeling good after the race!

Time to pick pumpkins!

We took Charlie, James and Kaylynn to a pumpkin "ranch" this weekend for some fall fun.  They had a lot of fun picking pumpkins...
washing them up for the trip home...
and going on a few rides while we were there.
I took more pictures of the beautiful fall day but I proceed to delete them from the camera before I downloaded them...duh!

Free to Breathe 5k

Cory, Kaylynn and I participated in the Free to Breathe 5k run/walk in Denver to raise money and awareness for lung cancer.  We were members of the "Don't Stop Believin" team and rocked out to a little Journey on the way down to get ready!  Kaylynn decided to try to run it with me and she ended up getting a medal for second place in her age group.  We all had a good time!

It was a chilly start to the morning, but we warmed up quickly when we started to move.
 Here we come!
After the race, waiting for the results.
She got a medal for second place in the 1-12 age group!

 Happy little runner!

Bathroom remodel

We have finally removed the carpet from our master bathroom!  Here are a few pictures from the project.  I am so happy with the end result!

Lucky to be high and dry and then off to Omaha!

We have seen some crazy weather around here over the years, but nothing like what happened two weeks ago.  We are very fortunate to live in a part of town that was not impacted by the flooding, but others were not so lucky.  I took a few pictures during the flooding event, but didn't make it to many of the very dramatic destruction areas.  There are tons of photos online that are truly unbelievable.

During the event, we headed out of town to go to Leah and Troy's wedding in Omaha.  Nothing better to take your mind off your worries, right?!  We had a great time visiting with family for the weekend.

Kaylynn trying to teach Charlie how to dance before the wedding started!
Waiting for the the happy couple to come out and blow bubbles!

 At the reception. Table 2!

 Goof ball!

Kaylynn tried to catch the bouquet.  Thankfully she didn't get it!
 Rockin out!
Everyone had fun with the frames they had out for picture taking!

It was a beautiful day to also take in the walking bridge to Iowa one afternoon.

God's Work. Our Hands.

The ELCA celebrated its 25th Anniversary by encouraging a day of service.  Our church combined with the other ELCA church in town, for a total of ~150 people, and took to the streets to serve our community in different ways.  Our family went out on nearly 2 miles of bike path through town and collected garbage.  It was a hot afternoon but some clouds moved off the mountains and provided us with some shade after awhile.  It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Her first business!

K decided to buy a snow cone machine with her own money today and set up a stand (with lemonade too) in front of the house with her bestie this afternoon.  They made a total of $13.  They seemed happy!
